Off-duty cop shoots intruder
An off-duty police officer shot and wounded a man who jumped over the fence into his garden in Strubens Valley, west of Johannesburg.
Police spokeswoman Captain Lydia Dikolomela said the officer noticed the man, allegedly holding a knife, standing in his garden. He shouted at the intruder to drop the knife, but the man refused and allegedly advanced on the policeman.
A case of attempted murder will be opened.
