Honeydew SAPS crime briefs
Herewith details of some of the reported incidents in the Honeydew Precinct, during the past week:
Attempted Hi-Jacking in Cosmo City: The complainant was leaving the church at approximately 7.40pm and was busy opening her vehicle’s door when an unknown man tried to grab her vehicle’s key. The complainant managed to run from the suspect and locked herself inside her vehicle. The man tried to open the door and was threatening the complainant. The pastor and his wife then came out to see what was happening, they managed to grab hold of the suspect and the police were called and the suspect was arrested.
Hi-jacking in Weltevreden Park at about 6.30am the victim and her friend were dropping her children at a crèche where she parked her vehicle in the parking area and left it idling. She took the children inside the crèche and went out to her vehicle. An unknown armed male approached the complainant and her friend as they wanted to get into the vehicle and demanded their personal belongings; they informed the suspect that everything was still in the vehicle. Another suspect appeared and they got into the victim’s vehicle and drove off.
House Robbery in Northwold: At about 6.15pm the complainant was at her residential address and was closing her gate when two unknown men approached her. She managed to run into the house and pressed the panic button, but the suspects followed her and tied her up in the house. The complainant’s cell phone and handbag were taken by the suspects. They fled the scene before the security arrived. The complainant sustained a head wound as one of the suspects hit her on the forehead with a stick.
House Robbery in Harveston: The complainant (daughter) went to sleep at approximately 11pm and at about 2pm she heard her parents screaming and she went to their bedroom. As she walked into their bedroom she saw four unknown armed men in her parent’s bedroom. A shot was fired hitting her father. The suspects fled the scene with laptops, jewellery etc. The victim was taken to hospital for medical treatment; where he is in a serious but stable condition.
SAPS Honeydew urges the residents of Honeydew to please look around you and be aware of your surroundings during the day and at night. Remember, an area is not safe just because you are familiar with it. Keep your local police station’s number with you at all times. Where possible, take note of your location in order to direct emergency services to you.
