Robber killed in shoot out with cops
A robber who stole a car in Randpark Ridge, north of Johannesburg was killed during a shoot-out on Saturday, police said.
"Three suspects stole a car at a house in Randpark Ridge in Honeydew after robbing two other houses," said Inspector Kym Cloete.
The robbers were followed by police after the vehicle's tracker was activated,"
The car was tracked down to Alexandra town ship at around 2pm.
When the alleged robbers saw police they sped off and a car chase ensued.
The car lost control and crashed into a shack and the gunmen began shooting at police.
Police returned fire and one of the men was killed, his two accomplices fled on foot.
A gun which was believed to have been during the shoot-out was found and police were searching for the two men who fled, said Cloete.
