Lion Park owner pleased with arrests
Radio 702 Eyewitness News reports that the owners of the Lion Park in Honeydew in north-western Johannesburg say they are overwhelmed by the police's efforts to arrest a gang of men who robbed the facility earlier this year.
Kurt Huppe was killed when a group of eight men stormed the park in a bid to rob the restaurant in July.
The 27-year-old died after being shot in the chest while walking from the bathroom to his pregnant fiancé and her six-year-old daughter, police have been hunting for the gang since and managed to arrest six suspects in connection with the case.
The park's Ian Melass says he is overjoyed to see the legal wheels turning.
“They are pretty certain that one of them is the guy that committed the murder and this pleases me greatly. I would like to commend police’s efforts,” said Melass.
Staff at the Lion Park have been asked to participate in a line-up to positively identify the suspects.
