Suspected Lion Park shooters arrested
23 October 2008
Radio 702 Eyewitness News reports that six men have been arrested for a shooting in which one man was shot and killed at the Lion Park in Honeydew outside Johannesburg in July.
Twenty-seven-year-old Kurt Huppe returned to his table at the popular family venue’s restaurant when a gang of around eight robbers stormed in.
One of the men shot Huppe once in the chest and he died on the scene.
Lion Park General Manager Ian Melass said he was informed about the arrests last week.
“Six of the eight that came in here on the dreadful day the 6th of July have been caught and in fact they are pretty certain that one of them is a guy who committed the murder,” said Melass.
Lion Park employees are expected to participate in an identity parade aimed at positively identifying the suspects.
